Betty Jean Bliffert obtained a divorce from Bruce Bliffert on June 5, 1957. Custody of their three daughters was awarded to Betty Jean. On April 8, 1960, Bruce applied for a change of custody. On January 20, 1961, the county court ordered the divorce judgment amended to award custody to Bruce, subject to Betty Jeans visitation rights, and to terminate the requirement that Bruce pay support money. Betty Jean appealed.
